Regular Events

  • Orlando Outfitters/Scott Fly Rod Fly Fishing School
Because these classes are scheduled on an individual basis they are not found on our calendar but we have classes going all year long. Look at our Fly Fishing School page for more information and to find out about scheduling a class.

  • Introduction to Fly Tying
We offer our Introduction to Fly Tying on the 3rd Wednesday of most months. If this doesn't fit within your schedule we also offer private instruction with very flexible scheduling.

  • Flies and Lies - 1st Wednesday of every month
Come hang out, tie some flies and tell some lies. Bring your tools and materials and tie whatever you want. Or, if you're new to fly tying or just don't feel like tying, leave the tools and materials at home and just come spend some time out of the house.

We hold Flies and Lies here at the shop on the first Wednesday of each month. We get started around 6PM and are usually here until around 8:30PM. Feel free to stop by for a few minutes or a couple hours.

Flies and Lies is a chance to hang out with other fly tyers and to share patterns and stories. While we all learn from each other this is not a class environment. If there are specific patterns or techniques you would like help with please let us know and we will find a time outside of fles and lies to help you out.

November 2011

November 4th through the 8th.
Bonefishing in Andros, Bahamas
Signing Up: Please fill out our contact form or call the shop and ask for T.J. to get more information
Cost: $1,850 + airfare
Group Size: Total of 6 or 8 anglers
Basic Details: This is a trip we've done a couple times already and we like it so much we're going back! We'll be traveling to Andros for 3 1/2 days of fishing.

We will be staying at Mt. Pleasant Lodge right outside the town of Cargill Creek on the East side of the island. The lodge is located a little to the north of North Bight where we will likely do a good portion of our fishing. The guide are very good, the food is excellent and the accomodations comfortable.

Fishing on a skiff with a guide will give you access to miles of flats and edges frequented by bonefish of all sizes. You can expect good numbers of shots at 3 to 6lb bones as well as opportunities to hook some much larger fish.

After fishing you can relax on the beach until dinner - or head back out on foot for the evening bite. One reason we like this lodge is that it is an easy walk down the shoreline to White Bight, which has good wade-fishing for small to medium-sized bones.

We plan to fly over with a charter service that departs from Ft. Lauderdale twice a day and goes direct to Andros. The price will be around $575 and seats may fill up fast. This will save us many hours on both travel days which means, you guessed it, more time on the flats. If you wish to make separate travel arrangements and meet us there that can be easily arranged.

March 2012

March 23 - 28
Bonefishing in the Turks & Caicos
Signing Up: Please fill out our contact form or call the shop and ask for T.J. to get more information
Cost: Around $3325 + airfare
Group Size: Total of 6 or 8 anglers

Join Orlando Outfitters, Capt. Frank Catino and Beyond the Blue owner Bibo Jayne as we fish South Caicos for larger-than-average bonefish. We will be staying with Beyond the Blue and wade-fishing mile upon mile of shallow flats for some of the biggest bonefish we have run into.

If you are so inclined, Beyond the Blue recently added paddleboards to their arsenal. These are the perfect vehicles to explore the backcountry creeks and lagoons stalking singles and small groups of bones looking for an easy meal. We will definitely be taking adfantage of the opportunity!

This is the ideal trip for beginners as well as advanced saltwater fly anglers. We will be providing daily instruction in the evenings, for those who would like to participagte, on a variety of topics that will help to make you a better shallow water flats angler. You are free to participate in whichiver instructions you choose. The instruction will not add any expense to the trip.
